Length, width, weight and opening are adjusted to complement your face shape and connect naturally with the rest of the haircut.
Precision, razor and dry-cutting methods are chosen or combined to create the required line, softness, separation and movement.
A fringe should work beyond the first week. The shape is considered through its grow-out, styling habits and the amount of maintenance you genuinely want.
THE COMPLETE GUIDE
Clear information for clients who want to understand the shape, technique, appointment and grow-out before booking.
A fringe changes the proportion of the entire haircut because it sits at the most visible point: around the eyes, cheekbones and jaw. Its width, depth, length, opening and connection must be designed rather than added as an afterthought.
James considers forehead, hairline, cowlicks, natural parting, texture, density, glasses, styling habits and the amount of upkeep you want before choosing the shape.
An opening through the centre or off-centre with length directing toward the cheekbones or jaw.
A stronger horizontal statement with weight and width adjusted to the features.
A short, graphic or softly irregular fringe with a high-impact relationship to the face.
Shorter through the centre and opening into longer curved pieces around the sides.
Cut around spring, separation and the curl pattern in its natural state.
Graduated pieces around the cheekbones, jaw or collarbone that connect the face to the larger haircut.
Natural lift and direction determine how short, wide or controlled a fringe can be without daily conflict.
The opening, width and shortest point are placed to complement the eyes, cheekbones, jaw and overall haircut.
Waves and curls are allowed room to contract; fine and thick fringes need different depth and weight.
A fringe that needs daily heat styling is not recommended to someone wanting a truly hands-off routine.
The fringe area is observed dry, including parting, movement, density and previous short pieces.
Length, width and connection to the haircut are agreed before cutting.
Precision, razor and dry techniques are selected according to the intended line and softness.
The fringe is checked in its natural movement and you are shown the simplest way to reset it at home.
A fringe or face frame is normally incorporated into a 60-minute haircut. Complimentary fringe trims are available to existing haircut clients.
Haircut $150 · Transformation/extra time $220 · Fringe trims are complimentary for existing haircut clients.
Shorter fringes may need attention every 3–6 weeks. Curtain fringes and longer face frames usually transition more gradually.
BEFORE YOU BOOK
The useful question is which fringe will suit you. Width, opening, length and weight can be adjusted to change the balance around your features.
Often, yes. The cowlick must be assessed dry and may require more length, a different parting or a softer shape.
Absolutely. The fringe is cut with shrinkage and curl grouping visible, leaving enough flexibility for natural variation.
Micro and blunt fringes generally need the most frequent maintenance. Curtain fringes and face frames have a longer, softer grow-out.
That depends on the desired structure and texture. James may establish control wet, refine dry, or cut the area entirely dry when movement and shrinkage need to remain visible.
